Monsterating

Overly attached/possessive/praning.

Muli akong suminghap singhap...

Can't Wait

I was supposed to review for my Biology exam and do a little practice exercises for my Accounting class but then when I'm browsing my Twitter account, I "bumped" into several photos of different countries. I am a Tourism major and I chose to be one because I love places! I want to travel, I want to experience different cultures, I want to see the whole world! However, I was born in a not-so-fortunate- family. I have classmates who already traveled abroad at their young age and until now even some of them are not yet working... But let me focus on my "dream of travelling the world", shall we? Haha.

So I have no means of going to Vietnam in a Friday morning then drift to Thailand after 5 days. When I saw that photo of campers in Mt. Kilimanjaro and that sunset shot in Paris, I was suddenly engrossed on this thought that soon, after I finish my college degree, I can finally travel the whole world. I imagined myself roaming around the narrow streets of Morocco, taking pictures of Norwegian fjords or visiting Buddhist temples in Cambodia. Oh, God! I don't dream of becoming a legendary person or even making a name in my chosen industry. I don't even dream of becoming so filthy rich, just rich (if there's a difference between them). I just want to travel the whole world with him, with my mom, with my entire family, with my closest friends or just me- nope, not just me. That's lonesome. Haha.

Then I came to my proclamataion, self-proclamation! I swear to God and to all the other forces of the world created by Him, I'm gonna work my ass so hard, I'm gonna save a lot of money so that by the age of 24, 4 years from now, I can finally start to cross out countries in my bucket list. Sure I can travel abroad while I'm still studying like youth camps or exchange student programs, but what I want is for me to travel "freely". I want to be an explorer, I want to be a backpacker, I want to drift from one country to another, I want to be alive.

I can't wait to take photos of these places that I want to visit. I can't wait to see the smiles in my family's faces when we land into an alien country, I can't wait to kiss him outside this country. Yes, I am a wanderlust.

That's my goal - for now.

FOODTRIP: The CALABARZON Way

Travelling will never be completed without food tripping. Every destination has their own authentic dishes that tourist MUST try in order for them to experience the whole package. Ready your #FoodPorn because I know you're so on this topic so let's get it on!

FOODS TO DIE FOR IN CAVITE:

BACALAO

This Cavitenean dish was inherited from the Portuguese way back during the Galleon Trade period (Spanish Era). Bacalao is a salted codfish and is present to the Caviteños' table during Lenten Season, most especially during Good Fridays.

TAMALES

One of the most popular delicacies in Cavite. Tamales is made of galapong with peanuts, wrapped and steamed in banana leaves. Tamales is perfect with coco jam as its dip.

PANCIT DE CHOCA

Filipinos love Pancit but Caviteños made something better. They incorporated squid and squid ink with pancit noodles.  It might look intimidating but it's the taste that matters.

FOODS TO DIE FOR IN LAGUNA:

BUKO PIE

I'm pretty sure that when we say Laguna, the Top-of-the-Mind Food will be Buko Pie, a pastry with coconut fillings. There is really something with Laguna's Buko Pie that's why it is also a popular pasalubong.

MER-NELS CAKE

Cake? What's special with a typical cake? Nope, it's not just a cake but a cake to die for! This is one of my favorite cakes. Mer-nels's cake is so moist and its icing is really delicious.

PUTO BIÑAN

Made of galapong, sugar syrup, baking powder and with cheese and salted egg on top, Puto Biñan will surely make you drool not just because its cheesy and fluffy but it is also HUGE as plates.

FOODS TO DIE FOR IN BATANGAS:

BULALO

Your Batangas roadtrip will not be perfect without Bulalo! A signature dish of Batangas also known as Beef Bone Marrow Soup. Sipping the bone marrow is the best part.

TAPANG TAAL

Tapang Taal's other term is Jerked Pork and is derved with garlic rice, sunny side up egg and achara. In Taal, they serve it with hot cocoa chocolate poured in rice. This is a famous breakfast Batangas food.

MALIPUTO

Maliputo fish can only be found in Taal Lake, no wonder it's a very authentic Batangas dish. Batangueños love to cook it whether fried or steamed and partner it with Bagoong Balayan.

ADOBO SA DILAW

Adobo is a very famous Filipino dish  but in Batangas, their Adobo is quite different. It's main ingredient, aside to pork or chicken, is turmeric or "Luyang Dilaw" that makes the food yellow.

So whenever you go to CALABARZON, be sure to ready your cameras or camera phones for your Instagram food posts. And oh! Your tummies as well. See you for my next blog!
